The forest that inspired the Jungle Book, mostly sal trees.

The guesthouse we stayed in built their fire right on the floor.

Early morning mist.

Chitar (spotted deer), they were everywhere and the prime tiger food. We listened for their warning call to know if a tiger or leopard were nearby.

Vultures in the trees, usually means there is a kill below but predators are still in the area.

Our first sighting, she is walking away by the tree.

You can just see the male head in the middle bottom, tiger stripes are good camouflage.

This the female, she was more accommodating for the picture.

Here she is again.

This was how we rode to see the tigers in the grass

He was a baby elephant (this isn’t the best picture, but I wasn’t allowed out of the jeep to take a better one)

He’s coming closer.

A little bigger – I wasn’t sure how big he would get so I kept snapping.

Still snapping.

My last shot, he got a lot closer but I was too in awe to think of taking a picture.
